How to share long links more easily

Make long links easier to understand and share without removing parameters that the destination page needs.

Short links keep messages readable while preserving the full destination.

A useful link can still be awkward to share. Product filters, document identifiers, and campaign parameters can turn an ordinary address into several lines of text.

Tell people what they will find before they click. “Here is the workshop schedule” is more helpful than a bare address, whether that address is long or short.

Keep the parts the page needs

Some query parameters identify a page, a selected product, or a document. Removing them may break the link. If you are unsure which parts are necessary, keep the original address and shorten it as it is.

Never share a URL that contains a password, a private access token, or a one-time sign-in code. Shortening a sensitive URL does not make it private.

A short address works well in a text message or social post. In a formatted email or document, descriptive linked text may be all you need. Choose the option that makes the message easiest to understand.

Test before sharing widely

Open your link in a separate browser session and check that it leads to the intended public page. A link to a document behind a login will still require that login after shortening.

If the destination may change later, connect an email to your Shortsy link immediately after creating it. That gives you a way to update the destination without sending everyone a replacement link.
